What is Title I?

Title I  is a federally funded program designed to provide
assistance to students who need help in meeting high
standards in reading and mathematics. For over 30 years Title I
has offered students the kind of supplemental instruction that
enhances their ability to experience classroom success. It has
made a difference - and will continue to do so - in the lives of
students in the Delbarton area.

Title I  funds are used to provide supplemental reading and
math teachers, educational assistants, family liaison workers,
supplemental reading, mathematics and science materials, after
school programs, computer programs and parent involvement
activities. Each school develops a plan to provide Title I support
that will meet the unique needs of students at the school. If you
would like to be on the Burch Elementary Title I program
planning committee please call us at the school.
